Matthias Taubes' drawings, prints and mixed media on wood and paper are his attempt to express the inner turmoils and conflicts which are inherent in every intense love. Since the beginning of 2012, he has concentrated on the portrayal of the "Rosenfest" in the tragedy Penthesilea by Heinrich von Kleist. This festival of roses is nothing other than the battle of the sexes--an archetypical failure of love and lasting happiness.

In his series of works, Taube portrays inextricable relationships, entanglements and injuries.
